For example, in Asia there is the Himalayan Mountain Cordillera lying in the northern
hemisphere and the Cordillera of the Andes in the southern hemisphere. It can be said
that these represent poles of a geomagnetic axis, which due to the fundamental surge of
vital energy emanating from them, spawned advanced cultures that fostered the creation
of history and produced fascinating artifacts and architecture.
A diversity of peoples flourished in the Andes, which had common principles, reverence
and respect for the earth and a concern, for relating to, and interacting with, nature. This
was of the utmost importance in order to learn from her and thus growing and flourishing
by acquiring knowledge to further develop methods required for their own welfare.
After meeting their basic and immediate needs such as a sustainable, self-sufficient
agriculture producing a surplus of supplies and an efficiently integrated management of
their habitat, these societies launched a vigorous stage of cultural progress and
development. This soon led them to discovering and rapidly mastering evolutionary
stages already inherent in their biological make-ups. The most prominent among these
were the talented creation of ceramics and metallurgy, which were attained at an early
period. Over the course of generations, these various stages of cultural growth and
expansion led the Andean people, through more than sheer default, to the discover,
understand and control the surrounding habitat and their lifestyles, but also the
heavens. Material growth gradually matched with an advanced understanding of the
concept and principles of Being, leading to a relationship which linked them with the
Cosmos.
Thus a cosmic vision was formed that acknowledged an external source or power which
was substantiated by astronomical study and investigation. In turn, this cultural
escalation evolved in unison with internal paths that directed the human character. The
flows and tides of these thoughts formed them into wise beings, initiated in the Esoteric
teachings of the Universe.
Within the context of the Andes, it is our intent to share further "re-discoveries" and
newer developments in the research of lesser known or unrevealed aspects of Andean
archaeo-astronomy. Because after long years of study and research we began to
understand this cosmic relationship and witness the unique phenomena of the
interaction of light and shadow, which we trust will prove worthy and useful for the work
of present and future generations.
The sites and settings visited constitute some of the most important and revered Wakas,
indigenous altars and places of ceremonies, in the southern Andes of Perú. These are
centers of power of great significance, and yet are relatively unstudied and virtually
unpublished in regard to aspects of icons with symbolic drawings and also astronomical
evidence.
